United Nations Claim Christmas Scramble
The Team of Kathy Richardson (South Africa), Gillian Wright (Scotland), Daud Osman (Malawi), and Farrag Hamad (Algeria) have triumphed by .9 of a shot in the festive Christmas Scramble on the 19th of December. With a healthy handicap of 9.5 and posting a gross of 6 under par 66 the unlikely quartet slid under the radar so to speak, even managing to relegate The Dream Team and Title favorites into Second Place. Gillian Wright has been in some cracking form of late and obviously inspired her team mates to greatness as they clinched the coveted title and the bragging rights for the rest of the year.
Dan Greenfield, Troy Richardson, Andy Jubber and heart throb Ross Burgmann headed into the Competition with more cockiness than a male peacock but fell tantalizingly short of showing off their full plumage. The lads fell into trouble at the demanding Par 3, 8th hole where they recorded a bogey as none of them were able to find the green with their tee shots and had to rely on their shaky short games to try to salvage a par. We all know that in a scramble you cannot afford to make bogeys as more often than not they spell disaster and this certainly was the case with The Dream Team.
Third position on the day was actually won by the Management team of Mizu, Gary, Andy and Simon but in keeping with their high moralistic values and fairness for all motto relinquished the prize and awarded it the fourth placed team of Yuki Pellerine, Ray Labonte, Matt Jones and Graham Jones. Nearest the Pin Winners on the day included Lesley Mullen, Dan Greenfield, Gillian Wright, and Albert Marquez with Roscoe Burgmann taking out the straightest drive.
From all of us here at Tower Links we want to thank you for your continued support and wish everyone a Merry and Safe Christmas and a Happy New Year.
