Mark Reid swept away the field in the recently held Tower Links Open stableford on Saturday the 13th of February with relative ease as his 41 stableford points was good enough to see him hold a 2 point buffer over his nearest challengers, Liezel Parry and Hugo Toledo. With the windy conditions making club selection tricky and the quickening greens providing their own trouble Reid was a model of consistency to say the least, scoring 19 points on the more demanding front nine despite two holes where he failed to score.

Turning to the inward half Reid through down the gauntlet to his challengers as he stroked in a much needed birdie three to nett 4 points and a shot of confidence to boot. Mark’s solid run continued throughout the back nine with only a slight hiccup occurring on hole 16 where he only managed 1 stableford point. He did however dispel the disappointment of that hole rather quickly as two strong holes to finish saw him tap in for 22 points for the nine and 41 points in total and a berth into Division A.

Liezel Parry and Hugo Toledo slugged it out for 2nd Place as both finished on 39 stableford points with the spoils this week at least going to Liezel courtesy of a better back nine, 21 points to the 18 points of Hugo. Both players have been logging up some serious course time of late with Liezel possibly getting the edge in that department due to her recent match play commitments. They may also have pushed Mark a little more if not for the two holes each that they failed to record a score on, but as we all know everyone has a story to tell.

Sunimal Fernando and Lesley Mullen took out 4th and 5th Places respectively on 37 points courtesy of yet another count back, with the boys coming out trumps this time as Sunimal had 22 points on the back nine compared to the 21 of Lesley. With Tower Links Members swooping up the main awards it was pleasing to see some of our guest featuring in the nearest the pin prizes. Hole 4, Chris Parry, Hole 8, Mark Reid, Hole 12, Saleh Alameri and Hole16, Neil Orchard.
