No one expected such great scoring for the February Medal held on Saturday the 24th as the shamal that was on course to hit the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah had turned the normal benign morning conditions into a weather pattern fit for the kite flying enthusiast. Matt Jones in A Division however had his own score to settle with the course and seemingly did not notice the toughening playing conditions as he breezed around the front nine in 37 strokes.

Jones inward half and probably played in the strongest of the blustery conditions was simply faultless, birding 2 out of his last 3 holes as he returned in a 2 under par total of 34 and a 71 gross, 1 under par to take out the Division A Gross and Nett Title. Mark Reid held his nerve despite making some rather unfortunate numbers on holes 3 and 13 to Place 2nd in Division A with a very tidy 73 nett. The inform Graham Farrington will be ruing holes 13 and 14 where he scored 9 and 8 respectively as it most certainly cost him a shot at the title. He did however extend his lead in the Golfer of the Year Title for 2009/2010 with another tidy performance of 75 nett to Place 3rd.

In Division B it was pleasing to see ‘’The flying Finn’’ and low ball striker, Risto Painio take top honours with 39 stablford pts as he gathers some momentum with his game after many long hours grafting away on the course. Risto did a top job on the day and much better than some of his more fancied competitors in the conditions as he failed on only one occasion to register a score. Another gutsy performance from Anil Chacko shooting 38 stableford pts sees him Place 2nd on the day with John Washburn Placing 3rd on 37 stableford pts.
