Madin's Maiden leaves Maiden's Mortified
Joe Madin didn’t seem to mind the heavy humid conditions that confronted the players on Wednesday the 21st of July as he breezed around the back nine shooting 21 stableford points. Joe has been working hard on his game and steadily improving with each passing month, so it was just a matter of when not if he was going to claim his maiden win. It wasn’t however an easy victory for the young lad as there were another 3 players on the night that also finished on the same score, Lesley Mullen, Pat Mottershead and the electric Graham Jones.
Unfortunately only the top 3 win prizes, so one of the trio was going home empty handed and fortunately for the lovely ladies, Pat and Lesley, Mr Jones was gracious in defeat. Ordinarily Graham would have been a shoe in for the top prize and he needs to be congratulated for his efforts, at least he can hold his head high as he did manage to match the winning total. Pat and Lesley matched each other’s final 6 hole tally of 14 points but the final three holes sorted the girls out, with Pat edging out Lesley by a single point, 9 points to the 8 points of Lesley.
